The number of new single family homes listed this week in Nanaimo declined to 37, down from 45 last week. Sales have increased, with 26 single family homes selling last week. That is an increase of 7 sales from the previous week. The blazing hot weather this week should slow down the showing activity. This is most likely, the calm before the storm, as the ‘second spring’ arrives in 10 days!

The 3 buyers that secured the largest discounts this week are the buyers of  421 Third St who secured a 18% discount off the $639,900 asking price (sale price $523,500). The buyers of 3345 Mcguire Way who secured a 12% discount off the $1,250,000 asking price (sale price $1,103,750). The buyers of 130 Canterbury Cres who secured a 11% discount off the $2,76,900 asking price (sale price $2,460,000).

This Week in John’s Life

This week we handed over keys on a number of properties, including a Departure Bay family home (video here) and a light industrial warehouse in Parksville (video here). We also had accepted offers on an Ocean View College Heights property (video here) and a townhome in Parksville.

In the last week, I spent a few days on Salt Spring Island. I explored Maracaibo and downtown Ganges. I also took Avery & June to Vancouver on the Hullo ferry for the day. We did some back to school shopping and a nice dinner at our favourite restaurant Din Tai Fung on Alberni Street in Downtown Vancouver. This just opened up in Vancouver earlier this year. We have been to Din Tai Fung’s in Bangkok and Seattle, and now Vancouver. If you have not been, it is highly recommended.
